The SWE-ECI section held their very first Upgrade Event at the University of Iowa on Tuesday March 12th. A handful of members of the University of Iowa SWE section gathered to listen to a presentation given by the SWE-ECI core board about the benefits of staying involved with SWE after college.
Membership benefits that were highlighted by the presentation included professional development, networking, and outreach in the community. The group spent time discussing recent activities organized by SWE-ECI and browsing the website to expose the college students to other opportunities they can get involved with this Spring. We hope to include members of the college section in the upcoming Webinar Night and also the All-Iowa SWE conference.
Following the presentation two college senior members were lucky enough to qualify for a first-year professional membership paid for by SWE-ECI! The Upgrade evening was another great event designed to help connect the two active SWE sections in the area. We hope to continue this event annually to keep funding new SWE professional members in the area as they begin their careers!
