Strategy Session #1: Creating a Vision and Mission
Session #1 began with a clear definition of vision and mission, and reviewed the mission and objectives of SWE headquarters. From there, the first half of the discussion moved to brainstorming what section constituents might need or want from SWE-ECI. The list of constituents was comprised of: SWE Headquarters, paid SWE members, community organizations, local businesses and corporations, professional and technical organizations, college students, k12 students and schools. The second half of the discussion focused on prioritizing each want and need within the constituent as high, medium or low.
From this discussion of who the section is made of and what their needs from SWE-ECI are, the FY13 core board crafted the new vision and mission and outlined key goals for the year.
Strategy Session #2: Defining our Goals
Session #2 began with a review of the vision and mission drafts. The first half of the session focused on filling out the goals, and translating them into event ideas. During the second half of the discussion, the group worked on matching proposed event ideas to months, mapping out a draft of the calendar.
Once again, the FY13 core board met afterwards to fine tune goals, and solidify the FY13 Calendar.
