On the evening of March 20, members and friends of SWE-ECI gathered at Backpocket Brewing to tour the facility. Backpocket's brewmaster guided the group through the process as he explained the different inputs and steps required to make a refreshing pint of beer.
The SWE E-week celebration included a chance to network with engineers from several different companies all sharing their experiences.
On Thursday, January 16, members and friends of SWE-ECI gathered at the Cedar Rapids Downtown Library to watch Tara Mohr’s Webinar “Finding Your Right Work”. Tara’s presentation emphasized finding your “Core Nutrients” - things (could be feelings, values, interests) that when present in a situation, peak your interest and allow you to succeed.
On December 11, 2013 members and friends of SWE-ECI met at White Star Ale House to learn about relaxation and stress relief (a fitting topic for the holidays!), and have a little fun while networking.
On October 17, SWE-ECI held a networking and wine tasting event at Cedar Ridge winery in Swisher. Many women from the area attended to network with other area engineers, sample Iowa grown wine, and enjoy a collection of delicious desserts! It was a beautiful fall evening – perfect for a casual night of conversation and a glass of wine!
This year's Annual Conference, entitled Make Connections, Make History, was held in Baltimore, MD from October 24th-26th. SWE-ECI was able to send 5 members of it's core board to the conference this year.  Students working on their Lunar Landers at Invent It. Build It.  On Saturday, July 27th, SWE-ECI hosted the third annual All Iowa SWE Conference at the Iowa Memorial Union in Iowa City. It featured keynote speaker, Jo Miller, who gave the keynote address, "Build Your Brand as an Emerging Leader."
Held on April 30, the 16th Annual IEEE ProCon Conference was an excellent opportunity to improve your professional qualities and skills. The Cedar Rapids section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) hosts this annual conference at the Cedar Rapids Marriot. This year’s conference included two tracks: Project Management and Leadership Development.
This year’s Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference, Start Smart. Lead Strong, was held at the new convention center and Marriott at the Iowa River Landing in Coralville. The two day event started with pre-conference workshops on April 23rd and concluded with an inspiring talk by Gloria Steinman on April 24th.
