 Two members of SWE-ECI, Katie Allen, Treasurer, and Jill Nagle, President, attended the All Iowa SWE Conference hosted by Heart of Iowa SWE Section in Des Moines on Saturday April 18th. The conference’s focus was on Advocacy. We learned about different forms of advocacy- from advocating on Capitol Hill, to advocating for SWE, to being a strong self-advocate. On Wednesday, April 8th, SWE-ECI members throughout the corridor gathered for lunch and to watch "Managing Through Influence Communication Skills Around Accountability, Conflict and Candor," a webinar presented by Aleen Bayard from Marketzing. The webinar was one of many available for free to SWE members on the society website.
On a cold Thursday during E-Week, a group of twelve toured the P&G Oralcare plant in Iowa City.  On Thursday, January 15, nearly 50 people attended SWE-ECI’s “New Year, New You” event at White Star Ale House in Cedar Rapids. Organizational development coach Gale Mote gave a very engaging address to help attendees understand how to use their strengths to find new success in 2015. SWE-ECI was honored to host her.  On Wednesday, November 12, Companies in the corridor hosted conference rooms with pizza to watch the webinar and listen to brand strategist, Catherine Kaputa. She stressed that many strategies used by companies to pitch their products can be leveraged when creating your personal brand and pitch.
This year’s SWE Annual Conference was held in Los Angeles, California from October 22nd to 25th. It truly captured the essence of its theme, “A Global Exchange for Change.” 
Rockwell Collins Booth at Career Fair
On Thursday, September 11th, SWE-ECI had our annual night out at the Cedar Ridge Winery. A number of women from General Mills, Rockwell Collins, Quaker, Dupont, P&G, HR Green, and other local companies came to network and socialize.
It was a great opportunity to network and learn about other companies in the area. The members from Dubuque were all very fun and enthusiastic about SWE. We played games, avoided obstacles, ate, drank, and people watched. Overall it was a fun event that we all agreed we should do again next year! On Sat July 23rd SWE-ECI joined the Dubuque SWE section in Monticello to go rafting on the Wapsipinicon River. Although the day started out stormy, 11 brave souls ended up making the journey and having a blast!
On Thursday, Mayl 24th, members and friends (including several four-legged friends!) of SWE-ECI gathered at Jones Park in Cedar Rapids for the SWE-ECI Spring Picnic. The weather was perfect to be outdoors!
On Saturday, April 26th, the Dubuque Area SWE section hosted the 4th annual all Iowa SWE conference entitled “Focused Full Life.” Members from SWE ECI and other Iowa chapters attended the event which lasted all afternoon and concluded with a networking dinner.  |
