The new SWE-ECI Core Board had the opportunity to meet each other in person for some axe throwing at Civil Axe Throwing. The group divided up into teams of two for a fun competition. The winners and top axe throwers were Shelby & Jill! Afterward, the group went out for dinner at The Map Room. It was a great opportunity to get to know the two new members on the Core Board this year, Henal and Sarah, and continue to grow our relationships with our veteran Core Board Members! We are looking forward to a great FY and hope to see many of you in person soon!

SWE ECI hosted the Welcome to the Corridor Trivia on Tuesday, July 19th at Noelridge Park ITC Pavilion. There was a good mix of ECI veterans, new hires, and interns. We had three teams who all brought their A-game, making it a close competition. Jill, Emily, & Riley proved superior in their knowledge of Iowa people, places, things, and companies.
On Monday, February 8th, some of our SWE-ECI members got together on Zoom for a Virtual Happy Hour & Game Night! We started off with an ice breaker of introductions and the first movie that we each remembered seeing in a movie theatre. It was fun reminiscing! Then Kristen Wagner, SWE-ECI President, gave a brief overview of all ECI Core Board roles since elections for FY22 (July 2021 - June 2022) will be starting soon. Watch out for upcoming communications! We ended the night playing two rounds of Murder Mystery Trivia on Jackbox! Our game winners were Emily Vandermyde & Kristen Wagner. Everyone had a lot of fun!
Each year, ECI's new Core Board gets together for a bonding event to get to know each other better. Due to circumstances this year it had to be virtual, but we made it work! On July 12th, our team had a virtual game night, playing Codenames. Most people had played it before, but it was new to a couple of us. The game really helped us learn how each other thinks, while providing many laughs, as well!

![]() On Wednesday, December 9th, members of SWE-ECI gathered at the Rockwell Collins Rec Center to take a yoga class led by core board member, Elise. We started the evening by focusing on our breathing and Elise set the mood with some relaxing music and scents of sandalwood and lavender. We then spent an energizing hour learning some basic stretches and even did some balancing. It was a great way to refocus during the busy holiday season. A few of us headed to Panera afterwards for smoothies and networking. It was a great evening all around. Thanks to all who attended! SWE-ECI held our first Networking Nite Out on September 17th at White Star Ale House. The event included free head shots for members and a presentation on the benefits of becoming a paid SWE member.
This past Saturday, August 22nd, the ECI, Dubuque, and Quad City chapters met in Monticello to float the Makoqueta River for the second annual join Tube Float event! The weather was perfect and the company had a lot of fun. It turned into a full day event as the water was low and moving slowly, but it gave a great opportunity to relax, look at nature, and get to know one another. Joint events are a great way to network, and SWE-ECI will continue to try to provide these opportunites.
On Thursday, June 18th, nine members from SWE-ECI attended the GE Women's Network annual fundraiser for SWE scholarships. The event was held at Bloomsbury Farms and included dinner and a murder mystery show! The ladies enjoyed the meal, networking, and trying to solve the murder. Congrats to those who figured out that Jimmy the Fish the mobster killed Harry Hind in the 1920s themed speakeasy. It was a fun night and thanks to all who came out!
