On Thursday, May 21st, SWE-ECI hosted a virtual happy hour and celebration for the end of SWE's fiscal year. We all enjoyed each other's company through a fun ice breaker, led by Jill Nagle, and casual conversation. President, Kristen Wagner, gave a brief overview of the benefits of registering for a SWE Society membership since the fiscal year starts July 1st and announced the winners of SWE-ECI's annual awards. We ended the happy hour with a raffle, as well! SWE-ECI's FY20 Award Winners were:

On Thursday, December 20th, SWE ECI hosted a "SWE'd Like to Introduce Ourselves" event for all of our new members and those interested in learning more about SWE. The event was co-hosted by Rockwell Collins' Women's Forum. This year, Rockwell has sponsored 200 memberships to the Society for their employees. Vice President of Commercial Systems Engineering and Corporate Sponsor of the Women's Forum, Leigh Parker, was on hand to welcome the attendees and kick off the program. ![]() Almost 80 people showed up to participate at Eastbank Venue & Lounge in the old Smulekoff's building downtown. The night began with a fun ice breaker event, followed by a presentation about SWE and the opportunities membership presents by SWE president Katie Allen. We would like to thank all the people that came out to make this event so popular! On Tuesday, May 17th, a number of SWE members and their families joined us at the ballpark for our annual picnic and awards event! SWE reserved a plaza and we had a great time talking, drinking, and watching the game! The Kernels couldn't pull out a win against the Snappers, but we had many members win our annual awards! The winners are:

It was a great opportunity to network and learn about other companies in the area. The members from Dubuque were all very fun and enthusiastic about SWE. We played games, avoided obstacles, ate, drank, and people watched. Overall it was a fun event that we all agreed we should do again next year! On Sat July 23rd SWE-ECI joined the Dubuque SWE section in Monticello to go rafting on the Wapsipinicon River. Although the day started out stormy, 11 brave souls ended up making the journey and having a blast!
Once again, SWE-ECI supported the University of Iowa with this year's upgrade event. At the event, the members of SWE-ECI informed the seniors of the benefits of having a SWE Professional Membership and encouraged the seniors to stay involved with SWE after graduation, regardless of where they start their careers.
After a brief hiatus from the monthly newsletter and posts on the website...SWE-ECI is back and proud to introduce the FY14 core board leadership! After the All Section Strategic Planning meeting in June and the All Iowa SWE Conference in July, August was a month of planning and transition for the women who keep SWE-ECI organized and operational...
The SWE-ECI section held their very first Upgrade Event at the University of Iowa on Tuesday March 12th. A handful of members of the University of Iowa SWE section gathered to listen to a presentation given by the SWE-ECI core board about the benefits of staying involved with SWE after college.
In an effort to expand our network in Eastern Iowa, and to make sure all local women engineers are aware of SWE, our section held a recruiting event at the Cedar Rapids General Mills factory, similar to the recruiting event hosted in Rockwell Collins a few months ago.
