Thank you to everyone that joined this event, thank you to those that presented their learnings and thank you to everyone that was willing to openly discuss these learnings. It certainly made for great conversation!
Those that were able to attend WE20 Virtually were eager to share their learnings during the WE20 Fireside Chats. One hot topic included "The Four Tendencies" (by Gretchen Rubin) which is all about your internal and external tendencies that define you to be an Upholder, Questioner, Obliger, or Rebel. Understanding what your tendencies are, and what the tendencies of those you work with can allow for understanding how to communicate and work together. We discussed how you can leverage each person no matter what their tendencies are. We looked at patterns within our own lives to see what tendency type we like to work with the most and which one we struggle with the most. Other topics discussed include cognitive diversity, being persistent when being told "no" or ask the why not, and shattering your own personal bias'.
Thank you to everyone that joined this event, thank you to those that presented their learnings and thank you to everyone that was willing to openly discuss these learnings. It certainly made for great conversation!

WE20's theme was Practice Curiosity and occurred virtually this year over the course of two weeks: Nov. 2nd -13th. We had at least six ECI members attend the conference this year to Practice Curiosity during several live or pre-recorded sessions. We also had members recruiting for their respective companies. The highlight for ECI was being recognized during one of the keynote sessions as winner of the SWE Bronze Mission Award for exemplifying SWE's strategic mission through our section events. There are a few On-Demand sessions available to the general public. If you are interested in checking them out, then you can access them on SWE's website by scrolling down to the On-Demand section dated October 26th-30th.
We are all looking forward to next year's WE21 conference and hoping it can be in-person in Indianapolis, IN! |
