SWE-ECI recently sponsored a special award during the Future Cities competition that was hosted virtually this year. This years theme was "Living on the Moon". Our members evaluated and ranked participating teams on the model that displayed the most diverse use of materials and geometries. All teams did an outstanding job, making the judging very difficult. We especially loved to see each teams creativity on how to design the city from afar and enjoyed seeing how each team presented their cities via Zoom. In the end, the Della Luna from Evans Middle School won and took home SWE's Most Diverse Infrastructure Award with their unique design. Congratulations!

On February 24th, SWE-ECI hosted a lunch webinar followed by group discussions to celebrate Engineers Week! We presented two TED Talks and they were indeed ideas worth spreading. One was more technically inclined describing Robogamis, and the other encouraged us to solve big problems with whatever skills we can bring to the table. Both of these are linked in the article.
We hope these topics lit a spark of curiosity within you and got you introduced to new breakthroughs in technology. Happy Engineers Week! On Monday, February 8th, some of our SWE-ECI members got together on Zoom for a Virtual Happy Hour & Game Night! We started off with an ice breaker of introductions and the first movie that we each remembered seeing in a movie theatre. It was fun reminiscing! Then Kristen Wagner, SWE-ECI President, gave a brief overview of all ECI Core Board roles since elections for FY22 (July 2021 - June 2022) will be starting soon. Watch out for upcoming communications! We ended the night playing two rounds of Murder Mystery Trivia on Jackbox! Our game winners were Emily Vandermyde & Kristen Wagner. Everyone had a lot of fun!
