This year Rebecca Reck, SWE-ECI’s Section Representative, was recognized as one of SWE’s New Faces of Engineering Award, and was featured in in the Winter 2013 issue of SWE Magazine. This award recognizes the accomplishments of early–career engineers, highlighting the breadth of possibilities an engineering career offers, and at the same time, putting a youthful face on the profession.

On 6 February 2013, Rockwell Collins hosted the first Rocket Women event in the University of Iowa. The objective of this event was to create an opportunity for University of Iowa’s business and engineering students to mix, mingle and network with the successful women in finance and engineering from Rockwell Collins in a more relaxed and social setting.
Region H held its annual conference this year in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota – MSP. Our East Central Iowa chapter is in Region H along with 18 other professional sections and 44 collegiate sections across the Midwest. Six members from ECI attended the conference and represented our section in the business meeting.
For the third year in a row, Rockwell Collins has donated $8,000 to our East Central Iowa Society of Women Engineer's chapter. Thanks to these funds, we can continue to hold free networking events, technical tours, and outreach events in our community. We also sponsor travel to the Iowa, Region H, and Annual conference for our members. Thank you Rockwell Collins for all you do for this chapter.
If your company would like to support SWE-ECI, please learn more about our vision and mission on our About page and visit our Sponsorship page to get involved. This year three SWE-ECI members supported the Iowa Regional Future City Competition again. For the special award, Rowena Aburto and Alyssa Reinhardt were looking for the team that used the most aesthetic diversity in the materials used to build the model of their city. |
